The Tampa Bay Rays were victorious last night, taking their first series victory in what has turned out to be a disastrous June. They defeated the Toronto Blue Jays, 4-1, behind a strong pitching performance of six pitchers who combined to allow a run on five hits.
Ryne Stanek served as ‘The Opener’ and pitched two scoreless innings, picking up two strikeouts. Austin Pruitt bridged the game to the back end of the bullpen as he completed nearly three innings of work, allowing the lone Toronto run. Jonny Venters, Jose Alvarado, Chaz Roe, and Sergio Romo would finish things out for the Rays.
