Prior to Thursday’s series finale against the Minnesota Twins, the Tampa Bay Rays have activated infielder Yandy Diaz off of the 10-day Injured List and have optioned right-handed pitcher Hunter Wood to Triple-A Durham.
Diaz rejoins the Rays after a brief stint on the IL as he dealt with some hamstring tightness. The injury did not require any rehab time for Diaz and the Rays will be extremely glad to have his bat back in the starting lineup. He is having a breakout campaign for Kevin Cash and the Rays as he is hitting .286/.363/.502 with 11 HR over 248 plate appearances, accruing a total of 1.
