Tampa Bay Rays acquire OF Brian O’Grady from the Cincinnati Reds; Designate 1B Jesus Aguilar for Assignment

The Tampa Bay Rays have acquire outfielder Brian O’Grady from the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for a player to be named later. In a corresponding roster move, the Rays have also designated first baseman Jesus Aguilar for assignment.

O’Grady, 27, was designated for assignment by the Reds a few days ago. The outfielder made his big league debut for Cincinnati this past season and hit .190/.292/.429, with two home runs during his 28 games in the majors. However, his time in Triple-A was much more impressive as he set a new Louisville Bats (Reds’ Triple-A affiliate) single-season home run record with 28 longballs and he also displayed some speed as he snagged 20 stolen bases over 112 games.
