Starting 9: A preseason primer for the 2016 Rays

PORT CHARLOTTE — With pitchers and catchers scheduled Sunday for their first workout of the spring, it is time to take a closer look at the key components of the Rays as they take their first steps of the 2016 season.

The Rays have had busier offseasons, but they did enough this winter to prompt two compelling questions: What will they do with James Loney? And how will they fit all the outfielders on the roster?

The bullpen has been retooled, as it is every offseason, and the Rays have not one, not two, but three catchers with major league experience on the 40-man roster.
