ST. PETERSBURG — While Mayor Rick Kriseman has worked to secure a deal allowing the Tampa Bay Rays to look for stadium sites outside the city, he is formulating a plan to woo team management and convince them to stay at the Tropicana Field site.
During his “State of the City” address Saturday morning, Kriseman said he is planning to announce a “Baseball Forever” campaign in the coming weeks, which will feature local fans, business owners and politicians telling team officials why they should remain at the St. Petersburg location.
