The City of St. Petersburg’s latest help-wanted advertisement is asking firms to imagine a new Tropicana Field site — with or without a new baseball stadium.
City officials on Tuesday invited development and consultant firms to submit their qualifications to be considered for development of a master plan of the 85-acre site on the western edge of the city’s downtown. Firms have until March 25 to apply.
Development of a master plan was one of the items included in the city’s legal agreement with the Tampa Bay Rays that lets the team explore potential stadium sites around the Tampa Bay area.
