The future of the Tropicana Field site is the topic of a St. Petersburg City Council workshop at 2:30 p.m. today at City Hall.
The meeting was called by Councilman Karl Nurse to discuss the reservations of five council members who voted against a deal brokered by Mayor Rick Kriseman that would have allowed the Tampa Bay Rays to explore stadium sites across the Tampa area.
Expected in today’s discussion is a proposal to hire an independent nonprofit group to study how redevelopment of the 85-acre property could dovetail with downtown’s expansion.
