The St. Petersburg City Council is expected to vote today on the latest proposal to allow the Tampa Bay Rays to explore other possibile stadium sites in the region.
The council meeting begins at 3 p.m. at city hall, 175 Fifth St. N.
This is Mayor Rick Kriseman’s third attempt to gain approval from the council, which shot down one deal in December 2014 and deadlocked 4-4 on a revised second proposal.
However, two new council members were recently sworn in, one of whom has voiced support for an agreement. Lisa Wheeler-Brown replaced council member Wengay Newton, an opponent of the proposed agreements, and has said she would support an agreement, which could break the stalemate.
