OAKLAND -- Jaime Schultz played a key role in the Rays' 4-3 win over the A's on Tuesday night.
The right-hander entered the game in the seventh inning to make his Major League debut, then mowed down the three batters he faced, striking out the side.
In doing so, Schultz became the second pitcher in Rays history to strike out every batter faced in his Major League debut, following 35-year-old rookie left-hander Jim Morris on Sept. 18, 1999, at Texas. He was the first pitcher in the Major Leagues to go at least one inning pitched and strike out every batter in his debut since Pittsburgh's John Holdzkom on Sept.
