Robertson undergoes surgery on left thumb

ST. PETERSBURG -- Daniel Robertson had surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb on Tuesday morning in St. Petersburg.

Dr. Doug Carlan performed the surgery, which will likely end Robertson's season, given the estimated recovery time of six to eight weeks.

"[The surgery] went as planned," Rays manager Kevin Cash said. "Obviously, unfortunate with the time he's going to miss. [His injury] was very similar to [Kevin Kiermaier's earlier in the season]. It was a tear, so get him healthy, get him back.
