MIAMI -- Mallex Smith exited Tuesday night's Rays-Marlins contest in the middle of the fourth inning.
The Rays have not yet announced a reason for Smith's departure.
Smith singled in the top of the fourth, and he got forced out at second on an inning-ending double-play. The speedy outfielder did not slide and slowed halfway between first and second base.
Johnny Field replaced Smith in right field.
