TORONTO — A former Tampa Bay area high school standout reportedly is on his way to reaping the benefits of the Rays’ trade with the Blue Jays on Sunday.
According to multiple reports, shortstop Bo Bichette out of Lakewood was called up by Toronto after the trade of utility player Eric Sogard to Tampa Bay and is set to make his MLB debut.
The 21-year-old son of former major-leaguer Dante Bichette was pulled early in Triple-A Buffalo’s game Sunday against, interestingly, the Rays’ affiliate in Durham. In 59 games with Buffalo this season, Bichette hit .290 with eight homers and 33 RBIs.
