The Rays have traded David DeJesus to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim near Disneyland for 20-year-old pitching prospect Eduar Lopez.
Lopez was originally signed by the Angels in 2012 as a 17-year-old out of the Dominican Republic. After two seasons in the Dominican Summer league, the right-hander spent the last two summers at the rookie league level in the United States. This season he has a 4.32 ERA in 8 starts with 33 strikeouts and 16 walks in 33.1 innings.
Lopez was the 22nd-best prospect in the Angels’ system prior to the season according to Baseball America.
