DETROIT -- As if saying enough is enough, the Tampa Bay Rays flexed their muscles Wednesday, tying their season-high for home runs in a game that was relatively stress-free by their standards.
The Rays rolled over the Detroit Tigers 8-0 at Comerica Park to avoid a three-game sweep and win the finale of the 10-game, three-city and often frustrating road trip.
The Rays went 4-6 as they dropped in the wild card standings.
Logan Forsythe, Tim Beckham, J.P. Arencibia and Mikie Mahtook each homered as the Rays built a comfortable lead through the middle innings.
Mahtook’s homer traveled 427 feet, clearing the outfield wall to the left of center field.
