In a down-to-the-wire signing decision that had many wondering if the deal was going to get done, the Rays have signed their first round draft pick, and 31st overall pick, Shane McClanahan.
McClanahan is a Florida native, born in Cape Coral, and attended South Florida University where he played for the Bulls. The left-handed pitcher seemed to be unsure of his decision to sign leading up to the deadline, but it has since been confirmed. His slot has a $2.22 million value and it’s likely that the terms of his bonus deal are what took so long to get the deal done.
