BOSTON -- The Rays' roster saw a lot of activity on Friday, the day that also saw Major League Baseball's non-waiver Trade Deadline pass.
Bobby Wilson, who was recalled from Triple-A Durham for Wednesday's game against the Tigers, was designated for assignment on Thursday. The Rangers then claimed the veteran catcher off waivers.
To replace Wilson's spot on the roster, the Rays recalled outfielder Mikie Mahtook from Durham. This will be Mahtook's fourth stint with the Rays this season. He is hitting .150 with two home runs and three RBIs in 10 games.
Right-hander Kevin Jepsen's trade to the Twins created another roster spot, which the Rays filled by recalling right-hander Kirby Yates.
