ST. PETERSBURG — Ji-Man Choi hit a one-out, two-run walkoff single, allowing the Rays to emerge from what looked like another offensive eyesore and produce a 5-4 victory Sunday against the Tigers at Tropicana Field.
The Rays scored just six runs all weekend, but they took two of three in the series against the Tigers (37-84), who have baseball’s worst record.
The Rays (73-52) got the potential tying and winning runs on base in the ninth against Tigers closer Joe Jimenez.
Travis d’Arnaud reached on an infield error, and Willy Adames walked, bringing up pinch-hitter Kevin Kiermaier.
