Rays second-round pick and two-way player Tanner Dodson has had a really nice start to his career with Hudson Valley. As a hitter, he’s batting .285/.351/.387 with a couple home runs and six steals in eight attempts. That .738 OPS is significantly above the league average of .669.
As a pitcher, Dodson lowered his ERA to 0.46 Sunday. His strikeout rate is 25 percent, and his walk rate is 5.6 percent. I hope the Rays start drafting one of these guys every year.
Triple-A Durham Bulls (65-51)
Durham’s two home runs were too little, too late in its 6-3 loss to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
