With the International League championship in the books, Durham will set its sights on the Triple-A Championship. That one game championship will be played in Scranton on Sept. 16 against either Memphis (St. Louis) or El Paso (San Diego).
Triple-A Durham Bulls (6-2)
Durham won its fifth International League championship by hanging on for a 6-4 win over Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. After falling behind 1-0, the Bulls stormed back for three runs in the fourth on a Daniel Robertson single. In the sixth, Robertson’s two-run homer gave the Bulls just enough insurance.
Burch Smith allowed a run and struck out four in 4 2⁄3 innings, and it took five relievers to finish the game.
