On Monday, the Midwest League announced the eight participants for the Home Run Derby scheduled for June 17. After Ronaldo Hernandez won last season, Chris Betts will try to become the second straight Hot Rods catcher to come out on top. He’s third in the league with 11 home runs.
Triple-A Durham Bulls (38-26)
Durham hit three homers in a 5-4 win over Toledo. Nate Lowe’s two-run homer in the first gave the Bulls a 2-1 lead, and Jake Smolinski’s solo shot an inning later extended the lead to two runs.
