ST. PETERSBURG — LHP Enny Romero’s second go-round with the Rays lasted three innings, and manager Kevin Cash said that outing was just what the team needed.
“Enny Romero really picked us up big,” Cash said after Saturday’s 5-0 loss to the A’s. “It’s hard to understand how much that helps, but giving the guys in the bullpen a night off is huge. For him to come in and give us three innings and not have to use anyone else sets us up for (today) and the day after.”
Romero was recalled Saturday to help an overworked bullpen.
