ST. PETERSBURG — Rays RHP Chris Archer’s record-setting run has fueled talk of heading to Cincinnati in mid-July for the All-Star Game.
Archer, named the American League player of the week for last week, returns to the mound today riding a streak of three consecutive games in which he struck out at least 10 batters and walked none. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Archer is the only pitcher since 1900 to accomplish that feat,
He is 2-0 with a 0.39 ERA during those three starts and 7-4 overall with a 1.84 ERA in 13 starts this season.
