LAKELAND — The Rays, with just one spot to settle, are expected to announce the Opening Day roster around noon today.
Still undecided after Friday’s final day of the Grapefruit League schedule was whether they would keep another reliever or add a fifth position player.
Beginning the year with a four-man rotation allows that flexibility. Also, releasing C Rene Rivera and 1B James Loney (which should be official today) opens a pair of spots on the 40-man roster. That leaves the possibility the Rays could pick up an experienced reliever who was released by another team.
The in-house candidates for the bullpen are LHP Dana Eveland and RHP Andrew Bellatti.
