ST. PETERSBURG — LHP Jake McGee is scheduled to pitch one inning tonight for Triple-A Durham and might then pack his bags for Minnesota and rejoin the Rays’ bullpen during the upcoming road trip, which begins Friday.
“A day off, see how he recovers and then start making some decisions,” manager Kevin Cash said before Tuesday’s game with the Yankees.
McGee, who had offseason elbow surgery, has made five one-inning appearances during his minor-league rehab assignment.
Cash said this month that the plan called for McGee to have one multiple-inning outing so he could experience warming up after sitting in the dugout for a half inning.
