CLEARWATER — Next stop, Havana.
LHP Matt Moore tuned up for Tuesday’s scheduled start against the Cuban National Team with an impressive outing against the Phillies during Tampa Bay’s 6-1 Grapefruit League victory.
In his third start of the spring, Moore struck out eight while walking none in 4 2/3 innings Thursday, yielding Ryan Howard’s home run in the fourth on an 0-2 fastball that missed low and inside.
“We’re in a good place,’’ said Moore, an All-Star in 2013 before undergoing Tommy John surgery in April 2014. “I did a good job getting ahead of the count and it’s nice to have the ball come out the way that it is.
