Rays Notes: Loney holds nothing back in tilt with umpire

OAKLAND, Calif. — 1B James Loney isn’t concerned about a likely suspension for bumping home plate umpire Paul Nauert or the comments he made about Nauert after he was ejected in the sixth inning Saturday.

“You don’t want to get suspended, obviously, but they have control of that,” Loney said before Sunday’s game. “They’re going to do what they’re going to do. The good thing is the fine money goes to charity.”

When asked if he felt bad about the possibility of missing crucial games during a playoff chase, Loney said, “(Nauert) should feel bad about throwing me out.
