Rays notes: Jennings should provide offensive spark

ARLINGTON, Texas — The Tampa Bay Rays’ offense, which has been toasty this month, is expected to receive another jolt with the return of OF Desmond Jennings, who played his first game Friday since April 25.

“I feel good. I’m fresh. I’m anxious,” Jennings said. “I’m ready to play some baseball.”

Jennings, who missed 96 games with bursitis in his left knee that eventually led to surgery, singled to drive in SS Asdrubal Cabrera in his first at-bat for the Rays’ first run of the night.

Manager Kevin Cash expects Jennings to make an impact during the final six weeks of the season.
