Rays Notes: Getting back to basics to generate offense

ST. PETERSBURG — The Rays began the homestand Friday afternoon by working on a part of their game that could use a little attention — bunting. The position players worked on getting bunts down during early batting practice.

“It’s probably something that we’ll do now once a series, once or twice a homestand, just to see if we can keep as sharp as possible. Because when runs are a little tough to come by, we need to get bunts down among other things,” manager Kevin Cash said.

The Rays entered Friday tied with the Orioles for 11th in the AL with 14 sacrifice bunts.
