PORT CHARLOTTE — DH Corey Dickerson’s first spring hit as a Ray went a long way, then continued a long way before rolling to a stop on the roof of the one-story minor-league clubhouse behind the right-center-field fence at Charlotte Sports Park.
The home run, blasted during the second inning of Thursday’s 10-3 win against the Orioles, traveled, bounced and rolled an estimated 569 feet.
“Wow,” manager Kevin Cash said.
RHP Erasmo Ramirez, who pitched the first two innings, was working on fielding drills on a back field when Dickerson launched the Rays’ first home run of the spring.
