ST. PETERSBURG — The Rays bullpen could get some help this weekend in the form of LHP Xavier Cedeno (left oblique strain), who was encouraged by his 23-pitch simulated game Thursday afternoon.
“I didn’t feel anything at all,” Cedeno said.
Cedeno said if he feels well today (and he expects to) he can return to the bullpen Saturday.
LHP Jake McGee (torn left meniscus) shouldn’t be far behind. McGee threw 24 pitches Thursday, and while he struggled with his control, he was pleased with how his knee felt. McGee is scheduled to throw another simulated game Sunday.
