Rays
ST. PETERSBURG — On the night he was designated for assignment, RHP Grant Balfour said he didn’t know what his future held, but added, “Things will work itself out.”
As it turns out, things might work out for Balfour with the Rays.
Balfour, who was DFA’d on April 18 and officially released by the club earlier this week, agreed to a minor-league deal and will be activated Tuesday at Durham.
The idea is for Balfour, who has not pitched since April 18, to get his arm back in shape, work on a few things that hindered his effectiveness and see where it leads.
