PORT CHARLOTTE — The Rays, who pride themselves on defense, committed three errors in Sunday’s loss to give them 12 through five games.
The errors have led to eight unearned runs, including all five scored Sunday by the Twins in their 5-4 victory.
SS Tim Beckham and 3B Taylor Motter botched ground balls, while RF Jaff Decker overthrew third base. The Rays also made three errors Saturday against the Orioles. SS Brad Miller bounced two throws to first base, and 2B Logan Forsythe let a ground ball roll under his glove.
“We’ve made a couple of errors on balls that I know we’re going to make those plays during the season,” manager Kevin Cash said.
