The Tampa Bay Rays have nominated starting pitcher Chris Archer for the Roberto Clemente Award, given annually to the player who “best represents the game of baseball through positive contributions on and off the field,”
Archer, who is scheduled to pitch Wednesday night at Tropicana Field against the New York Yankees, is one of 30 finalists for the award. He will be recognized prior to the Rays’ game against the Baltimore Orioles.
“I’m thankful and honored to be the Roberto Clemente Award nominee for an organization that is so active in the community,” Archer said in a news release.
