ST. PETERSBURG — RHP Brad Boxberger said last week in Kansas City that he was tipping his pitches, which was one reason he was getting hit during his outings. The other was he threw too many breaking pitches.
Boxberger corrected both issues and became the fourth pitcher in team history to save all three games of a three-game sweep when he finished off each of the Rays’ wins against the Astros.
“It was more just me getting back to who I am and be able to execute,” Boxberger said.
Boxberger, who was named to his first All-Star team, faced 10 batters over the three games and retired nine.
