PORT CHARLOTTE — On a Wednesday morning a week before the Rays’ offseason shifted to Charlotte Sports Park, pitcher Matt Moore stood behind home plate at Tropicana Field and watched recently acquired Corey Dickerson and Steve Pearce pound batting-practice fastballs through the air, the crack of the bat echoing inside the otherwise-quiet stadium.
“There’s definitely some thump that they brought through the door,” Moore said.
Add Logan Morrison and Brad Miller to that list, the result of the Rays’ commitment to add offense during the winter.
Pitchers and catchers work out for the Rays today for the first time this spring.
