CLEVELAND — Manager Kevin Cash made clear before Saturday's game against the Indians that the Rays had no plans to do anything with significantly slumping rookie 1B Jake Bauers but keep waiting for him to break out.
Not sending him down, not sitting him down. Just keep putting him in the lineup and let him keep swinging.
Going in hitless in his last 15 at-bats and 3-for-his-last-52, Bauers did a little better, doubling to snap what was then an 0-for-16. He improved to 4-for-55 since Aug. 10, pushing his average up to .202.
