ST. PETERSBURG -- The Rays made it clear that adding depth to the organization was a priority this offseason. On Monday, the club announced it has invited five more players to big league camp.
Of the five players added, Emilio Bonifacio is the only position player on the list. Bonifacio has played in parts of 11 seasons in the big leagues and has shown the ability to play all three outfield spots, as well as second and third base. The 33-year-old spent the majority of the 2018 season with Long Island in the independent Atlantic League, but played five games for Triple-A Colorado Springs in the Brewers organization after signing a deal in August.
