OAKLAND, Calif. — Daniel Robertson’s season took another downhill turn as he landed on the injured list on Saturday with right knee inflammation.
The Rays sent Robertson back east to Tampa Bay to be re-evaluated by doctors, Rays manager Kevin Cash said. There's no timetable for a return.
"(He was) trying to manage it, but felt like the pain wasn't going away, so we'll get him looked at," Cash said.
Cash said that he didn't believe the injury played a factor in Robertson's season-long struggles at the plate, but he has been dealing with it for at least a week because Cash said the team hoped giving Robertson some days off after he was optioned to Triple-A last Saturday would help.
