BOSTON -- Matt Moore will be optioned on Monday to Triple-A Durham, where the Rays hope the talented left-hander can get on track to resume his Major League career.
Moore won't be optioned until Monday due to a procedural matter, but he had already departed the Rays on Sunday. The team will go to a four-man rotation for the time being.
Rays manager Kevin Cash allowed that "it was very difficult" to tell Moore on Saturday.
"Matt handled it exceptionally well," Cash said. "I think he understood where we were coming from. A lot has to do with his best interest.
