BALTIMORE — J.P. Arencibia had himself a night. Drew Smyly wasn’t bad, either.
Together, they helped the Tampa Bay Rays roll to another victory against the Baltimore Orioles, this one an 11-2 victory Tuesday at Camden Yards.
The Orioles celebrated the 20th anniversary of the night Cal Ripken Jr. passed Lou Gehrig for consecutive games played. The numbers 2031 hung from the warehouse behind right field, just as they did the night of Sept. 6, 1995. The Orioles will be in Toronto that day, so the O’s toasted Ripken on Tuesday. Good thing they did, because the pregame ceremony and the in-game video tribute were the only things O’s fans had to cheer.
