Yesterday the Pinellas County Commission decided to, once again, delay a vote on issuing bonds to raise the $312.5 million they have committed to the new Rays stadium. We reported on that meeting last night; today we reflect on the implications of that vote moving forward.
1. Rays announce they have “suspended work on the entire project”
As of right now, the Rays stadium deal is not moving forward. In their poorly received warning letter to the Pinellas County Commissioners, the Rays made it clear they can no longer move forward with a stadium deal under the current terms.
