ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- After three straight one-run losses, the Tampa Bay Rays got one back on their side Tuesday night, opening a three-game series with the Baltimore Orioles with a walk-off home run by rookie Willy Adames in the ninth inning.
It was the seventh walkoff win of the season for the Rays, and the seventh walkoff loss for the Orioles, who had scored at least 11 runs in three previous wins against Tampa Bay before Tuesday.
The Rays (57-56) inch back above .500 and Wednesday, they'll try to improve their recent success against lesser opponents as they've gone 4-11 against the Orioles, Twins, Marlins and White Sox in recent weeks.
