Rays comeback falls short in 5-4 loss to Rangers

Rays

ST. PETERSBURG -- They made it a game, which is about the best thing you can say about the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday night.

Starting pitcher Chris Archer was gone after one-out in the fourth inning, putting the Rays in a hole they nearly crawled out of against the Texas Rangers.

They didn’t, though, losing 5-4 in front of 8,701, the smallest crowd at Tropicana Field this season.

The Rays arrived at the clubhouse Thursday afternoon to find Tampa Bay Lightning caps in their lockers. The Lightning flag that accompanied them to Boston earlier in the week, returned to its normal spot in the clubhouse.
