Rays
MINNEAPOLIS — After receiving scant run support through his first eight starts, Chris Archer had no complaints Sunday.
The Rays backed Archer with a 19-hit attack, led by Evan Longoria and James Loney, and Archer did the rest, dominating the Twins for six innings in an 11-3 rout that ended Tampa Bay’s two-game slide heading into Atlanta for Tuesday night’s matchup.
Archer had been receiving a puny average of 1.63 runs per start until the Rays salvaged the finale of a three-game series at Target Field, where Minnesota had boasted an AL-best 14-5 record until Sunday’s setback.
