SAN DIEGO – The Rays overcame a shaky start by Brendan McKay on Tuesday to roll to their fifth straight win, beating the Padres 7-5.
McKay allowed four runs in a messy first, but the Rays came all the way back. Ji-Man Choi, who had a two-run homer and a pair of doubles, and Willy Adames led the way with three hits each.
The win made the Rays five-for-five on the road trip that concludes with a Wednesday matinee, and was their 14th in their last 17 games. They improved to 71-50 and extended their lead over the A’s in the second wild-card race to three games.
