ST. PETERSBURG — The Tampa Bay Rays are close to trading reliever Jake McGee to the Rockies for outfielder Corey Dickerson, according to multiple reports.
The Rays have not announced the deal.
Joel Sherman of the New York Post reported the McGee for Dickerson swap. Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports is reporting the Rays are sending multiple pitchers to the Rockies.
The Rays would save $4 million in the deal since McGee received $4.8 million earlier this month through arbitration and Dickerson, who is a year away from arbitration eligibility, made $512,500 last season.
The trade also would make the Rays’ already crowded outfield even more crowded.
