The Tampa Bay Rays have designated Jesus Aguilar for assignment after a disappointing 2019 season. Aguilar was projected to earn $2.5 million in arbitration. Aguilar was brought in mid-season with hopes that he could rebound to his former All-Star form and provide the Rays with a thunderous bat from the right side.
Reveries of his 2018 remained naught but an intangible dream, a figment of GM, Erik Neander’s imagination. The Rays remain in need of a right-handed power bat as the dawn of the 2020 season rapidly climbs the backside of the horizon.
