Rays call up C Adam Moore to replace injured Wilson Ramos

The Rays made the easiest move to replace injure C Wilson Ramos, calling up journeyman Adam Moore from Triple-A.

Moore, 34, has played parts of eight seasons in the majors, last with the Indians in 2016 and before that with the Mariners, Royals and Padres. Moore played in 96 games, starting 73, hitting .197.

With Durham this year, he was hitting .215 with two homers.

Moore for now will join Jesus Sucre, who is likely to get most of the playing time.

Moore was the only catcher in the Rays system with big-league experience. Prospect Nick Ciuffo has played only 32 games at Durham, his first above Double-A, having served a 50-game drug suspension at the start of the season.
