Rays' Beliveau faces season-ending shoulder surgery

ST. PETERSBURG — Left-hander Jeff Beliveau didn’t seem too confident Tuesday that the re-evaluation of the MRI on his left shoulder would bring good news.

It did not.

Beliveau has a torn labrum and is scheduled to undergo surgery today in Pensacola. The surgery will be performed by James Andrews.

Beliveau will miss the remainder of the season. He was placed on the 15-day DL on Friday, then transferred to the 60-day DL on Wednesday to open a 40-man roster spot for INF Jake Elmore.

“Very frustrating for us, for him,” Rays manager Kevin Cash said.
