OAKLAND, Calif. — Outfielder Austin Meadows is the only Rays player to advance to the final round of the All-Star Game balloting that selects the starting position players in the midsummer classic in Cleveland on July 9.
Meadows finished among the top-nine American League outfielders in the online fan balloting that was completed Friday afternoon.
He advances to the “The Starters Election,” which begins Wednesday at noon and goes through Thursday at 4 p.m. Starters will be announced later that night at 7 on ESPN. Fans can vote on Google.
Meadows’ hot start to the season was rewarded with a top-three placement after the first balloting update.
